Our Volunteers Have Fun!
Our volunteers can participate in a number of different activities: Welcome Basket Events, Tenant Picnic and NeighborWorks Clean Up (all pictured above). Perhaps your employee or civic group would like to “adopt a building” for the holidays or sponsor a trip to an art museum.
We are looking for skilled, compassionate volunteers to work directly with our tenants on an on-going basis. Would you be interested in teaching a four-week class on nutrition, tutoring kids in math after school, leading a group on a weekly hike or in a yoga class?
YOUR SKILLS CAN CHANGE A LIFE
We also engage volunteers to work with our tenants on their independent living skills, parenting skills, financial planning, and so on. No matter what your skill, talent, passion or gift may be, we would love to discuss a volunteer opportunity with you. We ask our volunteers to make an initial three-month commitment. We have 39 buildings throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, and we are heading into the Inland Empire. Chances are, we have a location near you and an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of our tenants.
If you would like to volunteer with A Community of Friends, please complete the form to the right and email or mail it to Volunteer Coordinator William Membreno at email@example.com.
A very popular and rewarding volunteer activity is preparing Welcome Baskets for tenants who move in to their new homes. Since many tenants come to ACOF from the street or shelters, basic necessities such as soap, towels, and dishes are an invaluable gift. If you or your group would like to donate Welcome Baskets, please download this List of Welcome Home Basket Items and gather your items. Then, when you are ready to deliver your completed basket to A Community of Friends, contact us.
