In December, Judely Cruz Castaneda traveled to Washington, DC to participate in NeighborWorks America’s training and to accept an award on behalf of A Community of Friends. We were recognized for our commitment to being a Green Organization, which means that the entire organization strives to be green and sustainable in our operations, buildings, and property management. This includes recycling and using recycled paper, turning off lights, etc. at the Wilshire office and all our buildings, implementing energy and water-reduction strategies in our new developments, and retroactively installing similar features in our existing properties as well as using safe cleaning products. As part of this effort, A Community of Friends has formed a Green Team to increase employee awareness and engagement. The Green Team is also charged with increasing tenant awareness of green living options.
