Where will you be on Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend?
Join Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the Empowerment Congress for the 27th Annual Empowerment Congress Summit, Transforming Communities, on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Since 1992, the Empowerment Congress has worked to educate, engage, and empower individuals and communities to take control of their futures. It is a charge as fundamental to democracy as the concept of freedom itself.
This year’s event will be hosted at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and will feature Congresswoman Karen Bass as special keynote speaker, California State Association of Counties President Virginia Bass, KJLH’s Dominique DiPrima as Mistress of Ceremony, entertainment provided by Quattrosound, as well as six dynamic workshops to foster conversation around key issues impacting the Second Supervisorial District.
The event is FREE with lunch provided, but seating is limited. Celebrate the New Year and register for the 2019 Summit!
