About ACOF

A Community of Friends is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness. Our goal is to build a team of highly engaged employees who enjoy this work. Our management team encourages professional development and achievement, with a commitment to make ACOF an employer of choice. Our values – Dignity, Excellence, Community, and Equity – drive our team. We are looking for like-minded individuals who want to make a difference to join us.

ACOF is hiring and we want you. We offer challenging work, but we also love to have fun and laugh. We offer flexible work schedules and several positions have the flexibility to work from home. Our property management and case management positions are primarily worksite based.

We currently offer our employees 12 paid holidays, 100% of employee medical, dental, vision benefits (HMO) with options for PPO (available for employees after their first full month of service), paid holiday break, vacation, and sick time off. We also have a 401(k) with employer contribution (no matching required) and FSA available to employees after 6 months of service.

Our Employee Engagement Committee is an employee-led group that helps plan fun and interactive activities with support from our leadership team.

We are excited to offer a $1,000 hiring bonus for new hires, which will be fully paid upon successful completion of your 6-month evaluation period! If this is of interest to you, we encourage you to take a look at the positions we have available below. Please note that this bonus is not applicable to individuals hired through temp agencies or other third-party companies.

Transparency in Coverage Information

As a part of the Transparency in Coverage (TIC) Rule that was put into place in August 2021, insurers/health plans are required to create and post machine-readable files (MRFs) that can be read by other computer systems, that includes detailed pricing data regarding:

  1. Network negotiated rates for all items and services
  2. Historical payments to, and billed charges from, out-of-network providers

Blue Shield has provided the following link to meet this requirement: Blue Shield of California – Machine Readable Files.

For Kaiser enrollees, the information is provided here: Kaiser Permanente – Machine Readable Files.

Both locations are publicly available and accessible to all, and no authentication is required.
