| Individual case management |
Residential Service
Coordinators (RSC’s) assist each resident to establish
an achievement plan to their individual need. RSCs and residents
work together to develop the steps necessary to achieve these
goals. |

| Life skills classes |
Residents are
encouraged to participate in a variety of classes including
money management, personal empowerment, effective communication
skills, health and nutrition, cooking, cultural knowledge
and acceptance, and housekeeping. |

| Substance abuse and recovery
assistance |
Recovery support
services include individual and group processing, “12
Step” classes, workshops, crisis counseling and referral
to inpatient programs when necessary. Staff members consult
regularly with a certified drug and alcohol treatment professional.

| Family support and programming |
Services are designed
to assist parents and their families to live independently.
Services include child rearing education, child development,
children’s after school and enrichment programs, teen
peer groups, tutoring and homework assistance, and when necessary
school and court liaison. Partner organizations regularly
provide on site activities for our youth. |

| Childcare assistance |
Childcare facilities
are located on site at several of ACOF’s family properties.
Childcare is available to the residents’ children as
well as members of the surrounding community. |

| Transportation assistance |
Residents receive
assistance in learning transportation systems. In many instances
bus tokens are available to residents. ACOF operates several
minivans to transport residents to organized group activities
and events. |

| Employment services |
Services are designed
to assist residents identify, develop and strengthen existing
employment skills. Workshops are offered in the areas of job
readiness, vocational preferences, resume writing, interviewing,
employment retention and on-going work place support. Referrals
are made to local work force programs specially designed to
meet the needs of our residents. |

| Mental health services |
Mental health
services are delivered by professionals in the mental health
field and include: psychiatric assessment and evaluation,
crisis intervention, and prescription services. |

| Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Programs |
| STEP OUT Transitional Program |
Designed to assist
the TAY population (ages 18 to 21) facing conditions of homelessness
and emancipation from foster care, the Step-Out Apartments
have broken new ground in the housing and treatment of this
population. The program offers 20 beds for formerly homeless
foster youth released from the County foster care system.
The program combines housing with counseling; life skills
and independent living training; employment readiness training;
budgeting and money management; educational assistance; socialization
skills; and health services, all in a secure and nurturing
environment where these young adults can prepare to become
independent and self-sufficient. |
