Grant Writer / Development Officer

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer the Grant Writer/Development Officer will seek, write, edit, prepare and track foundation and corporate grants, as well as provide overall support to ACOF’s fund raising activities including special events, donor research and annual appeals. |

| Essential Job Functions |
| Fundraising |
-
Research, write, edit, and prepare grant proposals.
-
Solicit, cultivate and maintain relationship with foundations and corporate donors; research prospective donors; track fundraising requirements and prepare reports; and plan and oversee recognition events.

Create system for tracking grants, and prepare status reports.

| Marketing and Public Relations |
- Plan and oversee logistics for openings, groundbreakings and other celebrations and events.
- Oversee web design and maintain content.
- Prepare a quarterly newsletter and other marketing materials in support of fundraising efforts.

| Desirable Qualifications |

Bachelor degree in English, journalism, communications or related fields and two to three years of relevant work experience in fundraising and marketing, preferable in social services or community based development.

Working knowledge of housing and community development field.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; good public presentation skills; proven organization and coordination skills.
- Strong time management skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team; enthusiasm for team building; a sense of humor and the ability to juggle multiple goals and priorities.
- Valid California driver’s license and availability of vehicle to travel in ACOF’s service area.
- Valid vehicle insurance commensurate with California state law insurance requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and graphic programs, specifically in PC applications of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Microsoft Publisher and Internet navigation.
